Terms of Service

By creating an account or using SCIDraw (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Your Account

• You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU).
• You agree to provide accurate information, including a valid email address.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
• One person, one account. Shared accounts will be suspended.

2. Subscription Plans & Payment

We offer three VIP plans, billed once per cycle (no auto-renewal unless you re-subscribe):

Prices are in US dollars, billed via PayPal. Tax (e.g. VAT, GST) may be added at checkout where required by law.

3. Refund Policy

• AI generation failures: if >20% of your AI generations in a billing cycle fail due to platform errors, we refund 50% or extend your subscription, at your option.
• After 14 days: refunds are evaluated case-by-case. We do not refund for "change of mind" mid-cycle, but will prorate credit toward a different plan.
• Chargebacks without first contacting us will result in account suspension.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service to generate content that violates laws (defamatory, infringing, illegal).
• Generate racist, sexist, sexually explicit, or otherwise hateful imagery.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our template/icon library for redistribution.
• Resell or sublicense your account, AI generation quota, or VIP benefits.
• Use automated scripts to bypass rate limits or quota enforcement.
• Upload patented or copyright-protected material you don't have rights to.

Violations result in immediate account termination without refund.

5. AI-Generated Content

• You own the figures you create with SCIDraw, including AI-assisted outputs, subject to your compliance with these Terms.
• SCIDraw retains a non-exclusive license to host, store, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you.
• We may use aggregated, de-identified usage data to improve AI quality. We do not train models on your private project content.
• AI outputs may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying scientific accuracy before publication.

5a. Third-Party Icon Licenses

SCIDraw's icon library includes third-party open-source icons licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0), Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 3.0), Apache 2.0, MIT, and ISC licenses. Full attribution per icon set is published on our Acknowledgments page.

When you publish a figure that includes CC BY or CC BY-SA icons, you are responsible for complying with the underlying icon license (e.g. including author attribution in your figure caption or supplementary notes, and licensing derivative works under CC BY-SA where applicable). SCIDraw facilitates use of these icons but does not transfer copyright or waive any conditions imposed by the original icon licenses.

6. Copyright & DMCA

We respect intellectual property. If you believe content on SCIDraw infringes your copyright, email support@scidrawio.com with the URL and your proof of ownership. We respond to valid DMCA takedowns within 72 hours.

7. Service Availability

• We target 99.5% monthly uptime. We are not liable for outages due to third-party AI providers, network issues, or force majeure.
• Scheduled maintenance is announced 24 hours in advance when possible.
• If we discontinue the Service entirely, paid subscribers receive a prorate refund.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SCIDraw's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost research data — please export your work regularly).

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Disputes will be resolved in the Hong Kong courts, except where local mandatory consumer-protection laws give you the right to sue in your home jurisdiction.

10. Changes to Terms

We will notify active users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
